Week 16 NFL Games to Watch

With no Monday Night Football game this week, there will be the most amount of games on a single Sunday for the NFL season to date.  This Sunday is a great day to have the DIRECTV NFL package, as there are 15 games slated for Sunday.

Game of the Week:

The last game of the weekend should be spectacular as Sunday Night Football pits the 9-5 Seattle Seahawks and the 10-3-1 San Francisco 49ers on NBC for Sunday Night Football. The visiting 49ers have already clinched a playoff spot and with a win they can clinch the NFC West. The Seahawks can still win the NFC West with a win against the 49ers and then a win in Week 17 against the St. Louis Rams and a 49ers loss in their final regular season game to the Arizona Cardinals. The first time the Seahawks and 49ers played this season, the 49ers won 13-6.

Both the 49ers and Seahawks will look to their dual-threat starting quarterbacks in Colin Kapernick and Russell Wilson respectively to lead their teams to the important conference win. Last week, Kapernick had his best game of the season leading the 49ers to the 41-34 upset win over the New England Patriots. He threw for 216 yards and four touchdown passes. Wilson was better against the Buffalo Bills last week as he threw for 205 yards and a touchdown, ran for 92 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns in a 50-17 win in Toronto. With the 49ers coming off that huge win over the Patriots on the road and with the incentive to win the NFC West with a win they should take this one. The 49ers will win on the road by a score of 27-24.

Upset of the Week:

Even though it is more of a mild upset, the Cincinnati Bengals beat the Pittsburgh Steelers even though the Steelers are a 4 point favorite. The Bengals have won 5 of their last 6 games. On the other side of the spectrum, the Steelers have lost 4 of their last 5 games. With the Bengals riding a hot streak and the Steelers on a skid, the visiting Bengals should have the advantage in this contest. The Bengals are also 5-2 on the road this season including 3 in a row wins on the road, while the Steelers are 4-2 at home.

Both teams are fighting for the AFC’s second wild card spot, with the 7-7 Steelers needing a win to avoid elimination. Even though, the game is must win for the Steelers, with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s open frustration with the play calling in their 27-24 OT loss to the Dallas Cowboys last week the Bengals should win this one. Since Roethlisberger is upset with the play calling, he most likely won’t be on the same page again with the rest of his offense. The Bengals should take this one, by a score of 24-17.

Lock of the Week:

The Carolina Panthers had two good wins in a row, the last two weeks and should make it three in a row against the Oakland Raiders. The Panthers had a great win two weeks ago, beating the NFC South Division Champion Atlanta Falcons by a score of 30-20. Then they went to San Diego last week and crushed the Chargers 31-7. Starting quarterback Cam Newton has 10 passing touchdowns and 0 interceptions in his last 5 games.

In that span, Newton also has 3 rushing touchdowns and rushed for 116 yards in the win against the Falcons. The Raiders are coming off a 15-0 win against the Kansas City Chiefs, but they had lost their previous six straight. The Panthers should have no trouble defeating the Raiders at home as they should win by a score of 34-14.
